Under The Influence

TGR’s 2008 contribution the ski and snowboard film genre is all about big mountain and back country riding and for that they earn full marks in my books.  There are so many big mountain descents in fact that you can almost take this film as a text book lesson in the various different styles of today’s top skiing athletes. Sage Cattabriga-Alosa attacks heart-stopping lines with quick nimble movements.  Seth Morrison has no problem doing front flips or back flips on the steepest of lines. Ian McIntosh, the Dr. J of the big mountains, spends half the time of his descents in the air.  On top of all this, if your mind hasn’t been blown yet, Jeremy Jones’ steep-line snowboard segment edited to a PANtyRAid dub-step track will leave you out of breath.  Under The Influence is loaded with beautifully shot Holy $#!7 moments, thrilling helmet-cam edits and a pretty cool soundtrack.  Terrific.    By Mark “The Attorney General” Quail
