Push

“Push” is the 2006 Powder Magazine Movie of the Year and for good reason:  beautiful settings, helicopter shots, follow cams and some of the best skiers in the game.  Check out the likes of Mark Abma, Simon Dumont, Ingrid Backstrom and the magnificent (now late) Shane McConkey as they tear it up delivering thrilling footage.  One of the things I like best about “Push” is one of the early sequences about how the athletes are “pushing” the bounds of the sport and the series of shots showing some of the mishaps and injuries attendant when skiing at this level.   These skiers make all this look too easy.  That sequence drives home the fact that the most thrilling sport on the planet takes massive doses of guts and skill because if “you fall, you die.”    By Mark “The Attorney General” Quail
